Dumb mistake! That is all that I can say for myself on this one. I was working on building a cornice for the window in the nursery when I had my left hand in the wrong place at the wrong time. The screws for the L brackets were to long for the ½ inch plywood to they stuck through and I was just going to use the hack saw to knock off the extra that stuck through the wood… well I went through the screw end and right into the top of my thumb. After taking a few minutes to compose myself and stop the bleeding I thought that I would be fine and went back to work. Side note, my wife wanted to head into urgent care right away… she turns out to be right in the end. So I finished assembly of the cornice and then we started working on wrapping the wood with the fabric. As we were getting ready to put in the last staple to secure the fabric the rubber glove that I had on over the wound and bandage started fill with some blood. Well after reassessing the wound I decided that she was right and off to urgent care. Three stitches and a tetanus shot later I am all fixed up… well that and 14 days for the wound to heal before the stitches come out. The cornice looks awesome and it really finishes off the decoration to the nursery so it was worth it.
Pictures of the completed nursery to come.
