Well last night you mommy and I went out on a date for the first time since you were born. Since grandma was still here she watched you while we went out for dinner. It seemed really odd to be leaving the house without you, it is odd how quickly norms change and having you with us is now the norm.
We headed out to Shari’s for a dinner. Someday we will take you out to dinner there as well… something like your 16th birthday or some big event like that… you can hold me to that. Mommy enjoyed lamb chops while I had a great steak. With dinner we also enjoyed a glass of Black Oak cabernet (2001). After dinner we splurged on dessert had share a creme brulĂ© and a chocolate decadence… mmmm good stuff.
It was a relaxing couple of hours but all we wanted to do after dinner was to get home to you. We love you Emily.

Emily today was a very important day. It was your first trip to Target. It was a girls day out as you headed out with mommy and grandma Macy. They both said that you were did very well on the whole trip. You should see the pretty cloths that each of them got for you. Now you have several pink outfits that are just adorable.

Well little Emily we just had your first trip pediatrician. You had a great visit and were great the entire time. You are now back up to your birth weight (almost), today you weighed 9 lbs. 4 oz. The scale you were on was an old school balance scale and not that high tech digital scale that the labor and delivery floor used. So I just wanted you to know that you are doing well.

Well Emily today we all headed off to church for the first time since you were born… yes that is right your inaugural visit were we knew you are going to be mobbed (with love) by those faith family members that have been waiting to meet you. Everyone just could not believe how beautiful you are. The popular consensus is that you look like mommy. No complaints here on that, your mommy is beautiful and I Love her. As the service started you and mommy headed out to the mothers rooms for an early lunch and then made it back into right before communion started. Today we were able to spend a few minutes at the alter and pray over you and speak a blessing upon you. Then Charlie also spoke a blessing and a prayer over all three of us. After the service more friends came over to meet you and see how we all were doing. The Lord has blessed us with a wonderful faith family and we are so thankful for their love and friendship. And… you slept through the whole event.
God bless Emily, we all Love you.

While I was reading to you today Emily from The Baby Bible Storybook I was struck by the simplicity of one of the prayers and it made me remember that we can all be reminded that the faith of a child is so pure and not to let the world blind us from Jesus.
Thank you, God, for taking care of me.
Amen.

Emily Sweetums, yesterday was your one week birthday.
I can’t believe how fast the time is going by and how you are changing day by day. We still have no idea what your sleep pattern is like and I am sure that we won’t for a while or that as soon as we figure it out it will change. This morning mommy told me that you slept for two solid hours… ah, I was asleep the whole time and rather drowsy when she was giving me the news. She is doing such a great job with you and the three of us make a great team. I was back at work yesterday for a full day but the nice part is that I am right down the hallway and can help out at the drop of a hat.
I Love You so much and I can’t tell you how much you mean to Erin and myself. We are praying for you and with you now. I was reading you stories from your baby bible the other day and you seemed to really enjoy the stories.
