April 16, 2005 by daddy.
The first night home from the hospital was a rough one on us all. Emily did not want to lay down with out sucking on something was also up for feeding every two or less hours. I know this should seem normal for a child of this age but it seemed totally different from her patterns at the hospital the first two and a half days. Well we made it through taking turns sleeping and holding Emily so the other could get some rest. I had the late shift and knew is was going to be all right when I saw the clock and it said it was a quarter to five… that is the time we use to get up so I was ready to just start the day.
Today is April 16th and the time is 10:52 so just an about an hour past turning 4 days old. It was a much better day for sleeping and eating. Emily was catching about two to three of sleep for each feeding and in fact did do some sleeping on her own on a couple of different occasions for about twenty minutes each. Yeah, Erin and I did celebrate in those small victories. We are finding that if we hold her while she is drifting off to sleep and let her get into a good sleep and then lay her in the craddle or crib she will sleep by her self for a while. Right now she is in the craddle and starting to fuss a little but she will hopefully comfort herself down into sleep again.
I again just want to thank all of the staff that was there for us at MidMichigan and Midland OB GYN. We could have not asked for a better heath care.
Sleep well Emily and we shall see you in a couple of hours.
Love Daddy
