Corn on the cob

Emily, yesterday you had a great summer time delight, that is right, grilled corn on the cob.  Okay, so last summer you were able to enjoy some as well but then we had to cut it off the cob for you… this year you had it straight from the cob.  After letting it cool a bit and getting the cob holder stuck in you went right to town and nibbled the corn off like a pro.  It is one of your mommies favorite summer time meals and yes we have been know to make an entire meal of corn on the cob.  I am sure we have not seen the last of the cob for this summer.

Loving my Kids

This morning, just after Emily woke up, she came into our room and she and I sat in the chair.  She was leaning in to me, and she opened my robe to put her hand on “the baby” (she thinks the baby is right where my belly button is - I guess she is not totally wrong).  I could feel the baby moving slightly, and Emily was cuddled in to me, and I was just totally overwhelmed with love for both of my children.  I could have stayed like that all day.  I am very thankful that we are entering a weekend.  I am ready for some rest, relaxation, and family time.

Superdad

As I sit here with my feet up (been having some ankle swelling lately) working on a cross-stitch for the baby, I was struck with just how blessed I am. More specifically, I have realized that I am married to Superdad. Yes, he may be disguised as a mild-mannered computer geek, but I have witnessed his superpowers - like multiplying time. A “typical” day for Dan involves time working in some capacity at or for the coffeehouse, then devoting a full time day to his job at Sun. When he gets home, he is usually the one to prepare dinner. After dinner may be anything from giving Emily a bath to cleaning up after the dog so Emily can play in the backyard without stepping in any surprises! After Emily is in bed for the evening, Dan goes to work at his “3rd job” - finishing the basement so the kids can have a playroom and he can have an office again (Emily now occupies the room once known as the “corner office”). And it all starts over the next day. Oh, and have I mentioned that Dan is basically a single dad once or twice a month when I am on business travel? I am sure he will be embarrassed when he reads this, but I am just so proud and blessed to be married to this man, who also happens to be an incredible man of God. And that makes him pretty super to me.

Mommy’s first blog post

Hi everyone! You have probably noticed Dan has recently updated the blog portion of our website. it has a great new look and it also is now easy enough for me to use! I am currently just shy of 21 weeks pregnant - yep, we’re halfway there! At our last Dr. appointment, the baby was moving so much they almost couldn’t get a heartbeat reading, but finally clocked in around 145 beats per minute. They have decided to leave my due date as November 25 but we all know the baby will come whenever he/she feels like it. We also have finalized names, but we’re not telling…

We were at church for a little while after breakfast this morning and I took Emily to the bathroom. We were in the stall with the baby changing station. Emily commented, “The new baby can use that, but not yet. She (today Emily thinks it’s a girl) has to crawl out of mommy’s belly first.” Oh, the minds of children!

Bath Time Imagination

It brings Daddy great joy and excitement to see your imagination at work. While in the tub you make the wash cloth into so many things

  • whole wheat pancakes
  • a dinosaur
  • coffee
  • ice cream
  • necklace
  • soup
  • ice cube

So much fun watching and playing along.

Daddy

Bearah Feet

It is so cute to listen to you Emily tell us about when we don’t have socks or shoes on our feet and we have “bearah” feet. In addition to hear the concepts of “wearing” bearah feet.

No More Diapers, Big Girl Bed

Exciting news!!! You all read that right, Emily is no longer wearing diapers at night so we are all done with diapers for now until Little B comes along. To top off that exciting news Emily is now sleeping in her big girl bed in her big girl room! Yeah Emily!!!

Little Fingers and Toes

Last night daddy was able to feel “little b” move for the first time. Mommy was rather happy since with Emily she felt the baby move the day before the ultrasound and this time I was able to feel “little b” move for the first time the day before the ultrasound.

We were able to see all the little fingers and toes. It took the technician a while to get a good profile shot of the face… are you just playing shy little b? It is so exciting and we are very much looking forward to November when we get to meet you.

Mommy & Daddy
