Raisins, Raisins, Raisins!

Catching up on an old post…our little Emily was opening a Halloween gift that had arrived in the mail for her from Grandma Macy. As she pulled out part of the package, she said “Ooh, napkins!” as my mom had used festive napkins within clear bags to somewhat wrap portions of the gift. We laughed and told her that there was something inside the napkins. She reached her little hand into the bag and her eyes gtot wide as she saw what she was pulling out. Her outpouring that came forth was priceless: “Raisins, raisins, raisins, raisins!!! I go put them on my shelf!” and with that she ran out into the kitchen to put them in the cabinet where we keep her raisins (on a shelf that she can reach as she likes helping to “prepare” snacks and so forth). It was so adorable. As for trick or treating, Emily gathered plenty of candy dressed as Eeyore. We gave her the option of eating one piece that night and so she very carefully picked one - a Rice Krispie treat! She had no interest in the remainder of the candy. I don’t know how long that blessing will continue, but it sure is amazing that when you don’t give your children candy or eat it in front of them, they don’t want it either. She will take raisins and carrots over a Snickers bar any day. Now her mother on the other hand….!
