Waiting for TA

For those of you who have been following along on this journey, you have seen many acronyms over the last few months…LOI, PA, LOA, and so forth. Well, we are getting close to the end and there are only a few critical acronyms left! Our Article 5 paperwork should have been picked up on Monday – which means we are officially 2 days in to our wait for Travel Approval (TA)! We are getting so close now. TAs typically take 2-4 weeks to arrive (although I have seen a couple come in less than 2 weeks lately, which we are certainly hoping for.) After TA, we will then schedule our CA (Consulate Appointment). The CA takes place near the end of the trip, after which Julia’s immigrant visa to the US will be issued! Once our CA is confirmed we can officially book our travel. Travel will likely occur about 2 weeks after we receive TA.

So, when will we receive our TA? That is the burning question. The interesting wrinkle in all of this right now is the Lunar New Year holiday. Due to this holiday and the accompanying festivals, all offices in China will be closed Feb 3-8. We likely will not receive our TA until sometime after that. However, it is possible that the workers will try to clear their desks prior to shutting down for the holiday (this is common practice) so I am choosing to be optimistic that they will issue our TA BEFORE the holiday and we will receive it in the next week or two!

Please pray that we would receive our TA and be able to travel as soon as possible. I can’t believe how close we are now!
