Important Family Recipe
We get questions about it all the time. Sometimes people offer suggestions. Mostly, people want to know the recipe. This recipe has been perfected through a bit of trial and error. And it is THE most important recipe in the Lacher household right now.
And so…
I’ve decided to share the recipe here.
With Dan’s blessing, of course. Wouldn’t give away any family secrets without clearing it first!
So – here it is.
1. Evening bathtime – Selsun Blue for the hair, Aveeno Cleansing Therapy Moisturizing Wash for the body (jury is still out on this part, may switch back to good ol’ Johnson’s Baby Wash)
2. Right before putting on jammies (which would be immediately following bathtime if it is bath night), apply Aveeno Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream (heretofor AETMC) liberally to whole body, focusing on hands, wrists, feet, elbows, knees, and back of neck.
3. After brushing teeth, apply AETMC gently to face and ears.
4. Right before bed, apply petroleum jelly (the Target brand stuff in the squeeze tube is the current favorite) to hands and wrists.
5. Hope minimal damage is sustained during nighttime scratching sessions.
6. Before getting dressed in the morning, apply Aveeno Soothing Relief Moisture Cream to hands, arms, legs, feet, and back of neck.
7. After getting cleaned up from breakfast, apply AETMC to face (mouth area gets easily irritated by food and washing)
8. At naptime, apply petroleum jelly to hands and wrists.
9. Repeat daily (with bathtime every other day or so).
Oh, I’m sorry. Were you expecting the carrot cake recipe?
Oh no, that secret is still safe.
You see, the most important recipe in our house right now is the cocktail to keep Julia’s fragile, eczema-prone skin under control. And by the way – if she gets pushed to the brink of disaster and a stress rash ensues, all bets are off. Thankfully this happens less often these days. The moral of the story is this – if you have Aveeno coupons, send them our way!
