Psalm 1
Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers.
4 Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.
An amazing passage, that’s for sure. God’s Word is so beautiful. But somehow, it is even more beautiful when it comes out of the mouth of a 3 year old. Norah knows this entire psalm. FROM MEMORY. She has been quite busy in Sunday School and it has really opened our eyes to how much more we can be doing – no, SHOULD be doing – to “train up our children in the way they should go” (Prov. 22). I literally had no idea that Norah had the capacity for scripture memorization. I think I was thinking we would do that when she’s older. Emily is 6 and just started memorizing verses this year. But this makes me want to do so much more. Discipling our children is the most important thing we do as parents. I pray that Dan and I can work together to be more intentional about this aspect of our parenting.
How about you? What do you do to be intentional in your parenting?
