Daycare Transition

Last week was Week One of the Great Daycare Transition for Julia. She and I visited every day for an hour or so to play. This week we will start staying for lunch too, and I will probably try popping in and out of the room a bit. Today her class was on the playground when we got there so we got a lot of fresh air. There is one slide she loves, and she adores the sandbox as well. We went inside and she started playing right away. In fact, when I asked if she wanted to go home to have lunch she said no! When they brought lunch in for the class, we left for home. I’m looking forward to staying for lunch tomorrow. She is starting to get to know her teachers a bit and we found out today who the other teacher will be in her room so we will try to spend some time with her this week. By the end of the week we might try a nap there.

Next week, I will be leaving her for an hour or two each day. Please pray that she is comfortable there, that the teachers are able to comfort her, and that we don’t suffer attachment setbacks at home due to the transition. I will be back at work half days starting in two weeks, and then two weeks after that she will be at daycare fulltime during the week. Sigh. I can’t believe how quickly my leave has flown by. Also pray for me that I am able to stay strong during this transition, as it is sure to be stressful.
