Important Milestone
We interrupt this blog – normally devoted to the kids’ escapades with a smattering of scrapbooking posts – to discuss another very important milestone. June 23 marked our 10th wedding anniversary!
Ten years ago, we said I Do to forever and were ecstatic to be living in the same timezone, much less moving to Michigan and renting our first place. And looking forward, we had BIG plans for our 10 year anniversary. We were going to go here:
I LOVE tennis, and especially Wimbledon, and have been dreaming of going here since I was a little girl playing Nerf tennis in the basement with my brother while watching Wimbledon on TV. And well, my husband loves me, and so my dreams have become his as well and we were going to spend our anniversary making this dream come true.
Fast forward ten years. Well, we did travel internationally in 2011 but as you know, instead of England we went here:
Was it worth it? Absolutely. We completed our family. But also – China was fun, and interesting, and beautiful. And we absolutely LOVED it there.
As for today, we celebrated by having 4 whole hours to ourselves with the girls at daycare. We went out for coffee, then a delicious lunch at Cafe Zinc. Finally, we went to a local wine shop and picked out three bottles of wine, which we tasted tonight (2010 Cigar Box Reserve Malbec and 2007 Wattle Creek Pinot Noir came out as the two big winners.)
So for now, we will keep the Wimbledon dream alive for the future.
Speaking of the future – Dan my love, I have absolutely no doubt you will continue to make my dreams come true. You have a pretty good track record so far. And thank you for my surprise anniversary gift. Each time I look at it, I think of our past, present, and future together. I think of our three beautiful daughters. And I think of our Triune God that brought us together in 1997 and united us forever on June 23, 2001. So I think I’ll be doing a lot of thinking each day. Because I can’t stop looking at it. It is So. Sparkly. And. Beautiful! Thank you for making me feel special and loved and ridiculously spoiled. I Love You.
